- HISTORY: Dunklin (p.30) says that WILLIAM SCRUGGS (reference I.4.1), "son of Thomas Scruggs, was born in Virginia. He moved from New Kent up the James River, and in 1750 received Colonial grants of land in Albermarle County (which county was formerly a part of Goochland and Hanover Counties, Hanover County having been a part of New Kent County), and after the division of Albermarle County, part of his land became situated in Buckingham County. His will, dated May 17th, 1785, mentions one-half of 174 acres in Buckingham County to be given to his son John. He had issue: (Finch b1777, Allen b1778, and John). " William, his children and some of their descendants are also mentioned on Dunklin (p. 26,30, 38-40, 47, 62-65, 91-95, 113-116) These are not included in this database at this time.
