    When James was born in May 1862, he was named Alexander. However, in September 1862, his parents formally changed his name to James Strachan.
    In 1911, the enumerator has James' name as John. This could be a simple mistake.
    In 1921, the index says the name is James Stephen but the census record does say James Strachan.

    Immigration:
    Immigration records have not been found to date (Aug.2015). Immigration location is unknown.

    John and his brother, Adolph, moved to Alberta where they lived with their families. In 1917, Michael and Maria retired from the farm, renting it to John Killer [sic] (Koller??). They bought several acres of land near St. Gerard School and built a set of buildings on what is now the Gerhard Praschner place. Here they could attend daily mass and enjoy their retirement. In 1923 (after her husband's death), Maria, together with Laura Doll, had the house moved into Oriska, where she lived until her death in 1942.

    John came to Canada in 1908.

    ly 2019 - I’m mixed up over the Rosa Kohlers. There seems to be two of them - one married Carl Stettner and the other married John Michael Wurzer. But they both had the same parents ….???? The one married to Carl Stettner had 3 sons: Edward, Charles, Herman and perhaps on daughter, Joy, who married Amos Latzo. Information in the Bridging the Years, Carmangay and District.
