    • Dunklin says (p.23): HENERY SCRUGGS (ref I.)," son of Richard Scruggs, Gentleman, of New Kent County, Virginia, was married in St. Peter's Parish January 25, 1685-6, to Anne Grose." Their children are listed as Henry, John, Richard, Thomas, Edward, Mary, Anne. He is also mentioned on p.22, 24, 25.

It was originally in Bedford County (Virginia). After the division of Bedford and Franklin Counties … “Scruggs” became situated in the northern part of Franklin County, two miles from the present Bedford County line. The town of “Scruggs” in Cole County, Missouri, is situated near Jefferson City, the State Capitol.

HISTORY: (Dunklin, p.16) Towns Named "Scruggs", Bedford County, Virginia. Cole County, Missouri
Bedford County was formed in 1753 out of Lunenburg and was named for the fourth Duke of Bedford. It comprised what is known as Bedford, Campbell and a part of Franklin Countries.
Campbell County was cut from Bedford County on the southeast in 1781, and subsequently, in 1784, the County of Franklin was cut on the south side.
The town of "Scruggs" was originially in Bedford County, and was named in honor of that branch of the Scruggs family that settled there. After the division of Bedford and Franklin Counties, however, "SCRUGGS" became situated in the northern part of Franklin County, two miles from the present Bedford County line. The town of "SCRUGGS" in Cole County, Missouri, is isutated near Jefferson City, the State Capitol."

HISTORY: list as a Virginia Colonial Soldier in 1702 (both John Scruggs and Henry Scruggs). These could be the sons of Henery, not himself.
