- HISTORY: Dunklin says that Thomas (reference I.4.3.3) "moved to Kentucky with his father and brothers in 1793-94 and settled there on the 'Scruggs Place'. The Scruggs Place was located in Scott County, Kentucky, where Thomas settled with his five grown children (with the exception of his son Gross, who returned to Virginia). He gave to each, adjoining tracts of land near 'Lndsay Station' aout twelve miles from the city of Frankfort, and known to this day as the 'Old Scruggs Place'." (Dunklin, p.32)
THOMAS SCRUGGS (reference I.4.3.3), "second son of Thomas Scruggs, was born in Virginia. He married in Bedford County, Virginia, March 1, 1787 (by the Rev. Jeremiah Hatcher), Judith Buford, the daughter of Captain James Buford and Elizabeth Bramlett, and a sister of Elizabeth Buford, who had married William Scruggs. Thomas Scruggs went to Kentucky with his father and brothers in 1793-94, and settled there on the 'Scruggs Place.' He had issue: William, Thomas Buford, John, Abraham, Valentine, Simeon, Elizabeth, Pamelia, Nancy". (Dunklin p.42-43)
