    • Notes: Clyde Baker Hovis, 76, of Greenville RD 3, died at his home Thursday after a long illness. He was born in Mercer, Oct 21, 1891, a son of Lemuel A and Anna Wimer Hovis. He married Gladys Wineman Stillwagon Oct 24, 19929. He had been employed by Greenville Steel Car Co until his retirement. He was a member of the Greenville Car Builders Association and the Veterans Employees Association. Mr Hovis attended North Salem United Methodist Church. Survivors include his widow; three daughters, Mrs Wilber (Eleanor) Terry, North Hollywood CA; Mrs John (LeAudra) Owens, Greenville, and Mrs Ralph (Mabel) Fritz, Hadley; two sons, Virgil Hovis, Slippery Rock and Richard Hovis, Greenville; two stepchildren, Merle Stillwagon, Butte MT, and Mrs Frank (Marjorie) Bell, Meadville; a sister Mrs Braden (Sylvia) Baker, Harrisville; a brother, Paul Hovis, Jamestown; 29 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family will meet friends from 7 to 9 tonight and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Saturday at the Graham Funeral Home, Sheakleyville, where services will be held at 2 pm Sunday. Interment will be at Stevenson Cemetery, Salem Township, Mercer County. The News Herald 26 Jul 1968
