    • Amanda's first husband was John Edward Groff; he was killed by Robert Scruggs. Her second husband was John Baker, whose sister was Robert Scruggs' sister-in-law. The two families were linked again. Then Josephine Groff (daughter of John Groff and Amanda, raised by John Baker and Amanda) married another Baker, Christian Jr. (1853-1951).
